I have the honour to inform you that in the Treasurer's Bank Account for the month of June, a sum of $!!! figures as sale of a Nordenfelt Gun belonging to the Police Department.
Some years ago the Naval Authorities lent to the Colonial Government a Nordenfelt Gun to be mounted on one of the Police Steam Launches. About this time last year the Naval Authorities made enquiry and, as the Colonial Government had purchased another one in the meantime, the Naval Gun was returned.
The sum mentioned above is the result of the sale of the Gun purchased by the Colonial Government.
In October, 1891, Messrs Gilman & Co offered to the Government a Nordenfelt Gun for £100. They stated that not being experts they could not give full particulars but that it was a ten-barrelled gun in thorough good repair, and that they would be happy to show it to anyone sent by the Government to their office.
At the request of the Officer Administering the Government, the Senior Ordnance Store Officer went to Messrs Gilman's and examined a gun. Being cheap at £100 and in consequence the Colonial Government offered to purchase the gun for $642.00 (the equivalent of £100) and this offer was accepted and a special...
